Hi everyone!
Kontrarian Korner will be a newsletter focused on investments, finance, and macroeconomics. I will talk about some of the big picture themes that I’m seeing in the world, from inflation, energy supply & demand, with the occasional detour into geopolitics. I will also talk about individual stocks that I’m invested in or ones that are on my watchlist.
If you are receiving this email, you are either family, friends, or family friends. I have set everyone up with a free 1-year subscription so you will have full access to everything I write about (it’s $400 per year after that if I can keep you as a subscriber). If you aren’t interested, no hard feelings. If you are interested, and find my posts valuable, I would appreciate if you could pass it along to other people that might be interested.
I haven’t started writing yet, but I plan to write at least 2 or 3 posts per week. Below I describe what I will be writing about in more detail.
What Will I Get As A Paid Subscriber?
My Thoughts On Market & Macroeconomic Events - I talk about what I’m thinking on the big picture for markets.
Company & Sector Deep Dives - I take my big picture views and distill it down to sectors and companies that I find attractive.
Trade Alerts & Portfolio Updates - I talk about each trade (whether its shares or options) and give updates on my portfolio.
New Ideas & My Top Video/Podcast Of The Week - I do a lot of research in the form of podcasts and videos, and I will post my favorites each week with a short summary.
What I Don’t Do
Chart Astrology - You won’t see charts or technical analysis on why a stock will move in the short term (0-3 months). My goal is to buy assets for pennies on the dollar and hold for the long term (1 year or more).
Anything on Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency Ponzi schemes. It’s not for me and I don’t have any edge there.
Federal Reserve Watching - Some of the podcasts or videos I watch focus on the Fed and their money printing, and I keep one eye on it, but it’s not my main focus. At the end of the day, you can’t print energy or other real assets.
FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) on the dollar collapse, hyperinflation, or any of the other topics like that you might see on financial media. While other sites use those topics to get eyeballs, I don’t find it productive.
I’ll wrap up with some quick housekeeping items:
If you can’t find the newsletter, check your spam folder. And please mark this address as ‘not spam.’ If the newsletter isn’t in your spam folder, either, you should look in the Promotions tab.
If you are a social media addict, the Substack will have a home page on Twitter @BR_Kelleran. Feel free to share posts around on social media.
Thanks again, and please tell a few friends if you feel like it.
