I'll Be In Nashville Later This Week & Two Videos Worth Checking Out
I don’t put much stock in polls after the last couple elections, but a lot of recent data points seem to suggest that Trump is in a very good spot with less than a month left to go to the election. I’m curious to see how it all plays out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that gap in the polls gets wider from here. I just don’t see men turning out to vote for a Harris Walz ticket en masse. I was a fan of Tim Walz’s recent Elmer Fudd routine, but I digress. If you have any money riding on election, it looks like contra Cramer might strike again.
On a more serious note, I’ll be traveling later this week and I’ll be in Nashville for a couple days, so I might not have a ton of time for the regularly scheduled posts. If you happen to be in the Nashville area and want to connect over drinks or a cigar, I’ll be free on Friday. Feel free to leave a comment or send a DM if you’re interested in meeting up.
Mining Stock Daily w/ PauloMacro
As always, Paulo is one of my favorite podcast guests to listen to and they always provide food for thought on different topics. They spent some time talking about China and what has happened over the last couple years, from the effect of lockdowns, the real estate bubble that is an ongoing problem, and his thoughts on recent stimulus out of China. They also talk about copper, and why he thinks we are near the start of the second phase of the metals bull market. We also have less than a month to the election, and they ponder what the world looks like next year after the election, and how the outcome might have an impact on the world and financial markets.
Paulo also talked about oil, and why he thinks it’s an interesting setup heading into next year. The physical oil market is saying one thing, while financial markets for oil are saying another, and he walks through his thoughts on the matter. He lays out a detailed bull case for oil in 2025, but I agree with his view that all roads eventually lead to tightness as far as upstream supply of oil. When that happens will be interesting, but the Permian Basin will be the thing to watch in coming months on that front.
Rogue News w/ Veles
If you want a couple rabbit holes to go down, you will find this video interesting. Veles is very sharp and if you listen to him over the course of several episodes, you will probably come to the conclusion that he has connections in interesting places. They talked about recent hurricanes, the FEMA response, and how solar flares (not HAARP) is a more likely cause of the hurricanes. He also brings up the longshoremen strike and highlights that the most important issue is automation. Things have been pushed out until January, but it will be interesting to see what happens at that point. He thinks that the US government should step in with a solution to nudge things in the direction of automation, which would have significant positive downstream effects on the logistics side of the US economy.
They also talked about Pete Rose (one of baseball’s greats who recently passed), sports betting, fixing games, and other topics related to sports. I’m not sure how many of you are baseball fans, but he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Moving back to the video, Veles also talked about how Hunter Biden’s sentencing keeps getting delayed. If it keeps getting stretched out, Biden won’t be able to pardon him before the end of his term. He also covered a topic that will interest Uranium bulls, with several recent developments in nuclear power plants. The eVinci microreactor from Westinghouse was one thing, but he also talked about how a Trump presidency could be an interesting time for the nuclear industry. He also tied it into ESG ratings and some of the hidden impacts on different industries. Rogue News is one of the various sources I use to stay up to date on topics that won’t get covered in mainstream media, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
