Two Videos Focused On Oil And The Big Picture & One Focused On The Southern Border

This week I figured I would include two videos that talk about the oil market since we are seeing signs of life from the oil market, and a video that talks about events on the southern border. I think now is a good time to be keeping an eye on both topics. I talked about sentiment around oil in my post on the offshore sector, and I think we could be turning a corner there. The other video isn’t directly related to financial markets, but I think illegal immigration and the events in Texas are going to be a focus point for the Presidential Election this year.

Thoughtful Money w/ Doomberg & Adam Rozencwajg - Peak Cheap Oil?

This debate was my favorite video of the week as far as financial markets go. Doomberg (who I’m a paying subscriber to) has been getting some pushback on several recent posts on peak cheap oil and the future of the energy market. Adam Rozencwajg is a partner in an investment firm focused on commodities and natural resource investments, and he pushes back on some of the points that Doomberg makes. They discuss supply, long term oil market trends, technologies that could have an impact, and natural gas among other things. It’s worth a watch if you are looking for a longer-term look at oil markets and a debate on what could be coming for energy markets. I’m skeptical that we will continue to see easy access to abundant oil like we have become accustomed to, but readers should listen to the video and decide for themselves.

Macro Voices w/ Anas Alhajji

If you’re looking for an oil market outlook with a shorter term time frame, this Macro Voices video with Anas Alhajji is worth watching. This video talks about a lot of the nitty gritty details with the oil market. They of course discuss current events in the Middle East and its potential impact on oil markets, along with other topics that could play a part in oil prices in 2024. It seemed like he was pretty neutral on oil prices for 2024, but it was a good video to see how things are shaping up for oil this year.

Honorable Mention: The Old Glory Club w/ Ron Unz

This isn’t the typical video focused on markets, but it was one of my favorites from the last week. The Old Glory Club focuses on politics, current events, and geopolitics, and if you need to graduate from Fox News or any other mainstream media source, you might find it interesting. This week they talk about Texas, events in the Middle East, and a couple of other topics. I talked about immigration being one of the key issues this year in my 2024 post. I think this year is going to set the table for the rest of the decade in more ways than one.

It’s too early to take a victory lap (and I have seen videos that border still remains porous at best), but I think the prediction that illegal immigration is set up to be one of the key issues of this year’s election is going to play out. Whether it’s political posturing or Texas is actually attempting to lock down the border is up for debate, but this video was a good conversation on current events around the border and how the political fight might play out.
