Video & Podcast Of The Week
A Look At What's Going On In The Oil Sector & The Macro Big Picture For Energy
It’s been an interesting week for the energy sector. I made a couple trades and added significantly to my position in Borr Drilling BORR 0.00%↑. I’m considering a couple of other trades to make over the next couple weeks, but I’m not in any rush right now. I will be updating portfolio weights when I get a chance, but I’m planning on writing about Petrobras in the next couple days since the market wasn’t a big fan of earnings last week, and a couple readers have had some questions on my perspective on the situation. The first video this week talks about the broad energy sector, and discusses some of the stocks in the sector and the outlook moving forward. The podcast takes a look at the geopolitical picture for oil and energy and discusses some current events that could have an impact.
Wall Street For Main Street w/ Elliott Gue
If you’re interested in a discussion of stocks in the energy sector, you will like this video. They talk about what is having an impact on the broader sector, but a good chunk of the discussion focuses on natural gas and oil stocks. They spend some time talking about what is going with Chevron CVX 0.00%↑ acquisition of Hess HES 0.00%↑ and the Exxon XOM 0.00%↑ acquisition of Pioneer PXD 0.00%↑. If you interested in the natural gas producers, they discuss those as well. I’m not as bullish on natural gas as other sectors of the energy complex, but I do agree that natural gas has an interesting setup for the next three to five years with more LNG capacity coming online.
Oil Ground Up w/ Dr. Anas Alhajji
This podcast doesn’t focus on individual stocks, but Alhajji is definitely plugged into what is going on in energy markets around the world. They talk about the situation in the Middle East, OPEC spare capacity, and other things that could have an impact on oil from one of the most important producing regions in the world. They also discuss China and their impact on oil markets, and what they are doing with their Strategic Petroleum Reserve. It wouldn’t be complete without some discussion of the US and shale production, but it’s a thorough look at what is going on today in energy. It’s not as long as the video above, but it’s worth a half hour of your time if you’re interested in oil markets.
