The Sad State Of Affairs & A Podcast On Renewable Energy
This week I listened to a lot of interesting videos and podcasts and it was hard to narrow it down to a couple picks. There is a lot going on in the finance world, energy markets, and geopolitics, but I think the back end of 2023 is probably going to be the calm before the storm in 2024. It’s an election year, and while 2023 has been an interesting year, my guess is that 2024 will be much more chaotic. If you are interested in a big picture discussion on what is wrong with media, markets, and society, this first video is for you.
Dave Collum & Rudy Havenstein on TFTC
Dave Collum is a foul-mouthed chemistry professor at Cornell University. He also follows markets closely and is a frequent guest on the finance, macro, and investments podcast circuit. Rudy Havenstein is an anonymous commentator famous for his Twitter account, where he routinely criticizes central bankers, pedophiles, media, and politicians. They join host Marty Bent and discuss financial markets, our political landscape, the media scumbags, the different generations, and more. If you want an entertaining conversation on the state of the world, this one is interesting.
Arvind Sanger on The Business Brew
This podcast was a wide ranging discussion on the energy sector. The talk about “renewables”, and how you see some of the investments in solar and wind turning out poorly. I won’t lie to you and tell you that I’m an unbiased observer of these forms of energy, but our economy is built on energy, and if we keep making poor investments in our energy infrastructure, we are going to pay for it down the road. They also briefly talk about offshore, more specifically Tidewater TDW 0.00%↑, and Sanger is bullish just like I am. We haven’t seen the pullback I’m looking for to add shares of offshore companies, but they are still near the top of my short watchlist.
