I had a long drive yesterday to get back to Seattle, but I wanted to get a quick update out with a portfolio update that includes recent trades for paid subscribers. The offshore sector has started to run recently with oil prices, while coal stocks have been selling off as of late. All of these stocks are volatile in both directions, but I think oil and the energy sector have a very good setup heading into this summer. We will see how it plays out, but it looks like sentiment on the offshore sector has started to turn up from the bombed out levels we were at for several months.

I don’t need to do a full recap on Petrobras PBR 0.00%↑ after the post from last week, but I figured I would mention an interesting article I saw today regarding the special dividend. Finance Minister Haddad has apparently changed his tune on the special dividend payout, so my fingers are crossed that we will get the cherry on top of the regular dividend. I’m not sure if they will make a decision before the annual meeting at the end of April, but if that headline is any indication, shareholders that held through the recent selloff could be getting some additional cash in 2024. Over the weekend, I’ll also be looking into a new idea that popped up on my radar. It’s an interesting situation, but I need to do some more research to get familiar with the company.
