I’m going to jump right into it and leave the rambling for the end today. My favorite podcast of the week comes from recent podcast guest Tom Luongo, and his conversation with Brent Johnson. They get into the rules based order, how it was created along with the Deep State, and why it is more important that investors pay attention to geopolitics and the grand chessboard today.
They get into Trump and his different approach to geopolitics, and I agree with their take that you wouldn’t have a trade war or tariffs without Trump. The US is flexing its muscles so to speak, and using leverage against the rest of the world in a way that wasn’t common during the rules based order. They also got into stablecoins and plans to merge the Treasury and the Fed, and the long term path for the US dollar. Overall, the biggest takeaway is that it’s important to look at the world the way it is versus the way we want it to be.
Coffee And A Mike w/ Vince Lanci
Mike has one of the best podcasts around, and when he puts out a podcast, I usually skip it to the top of the queue. If you want to get his podcasts early, you should consider supporting him on his Substack. He’s one of the best at knowing when to let a guest rant and when to interrupt with questions. Vince, as always, was entertaining, and they talked about how Trump’s background as a New York real estate guy shaped his view of the world. They also talked about the move towards authoritarianism and why revaluing gold is a potential nuclear button that none of the major powers want to push. They covered a bunch of other topics, but it was an interesting conversation that is definitely worth a listen.
