Podcasts Of The Week
A Focus On International Markets, South America, and ETFs vs. Mutual Funds
This week I have two podcasts to cover, both of which should be interesting for investors looking at international markets. One is more specific on companies that I’m invested in, including Petrobras and Ecopetrol. The other is a big picture view with a focus on ETFs compared to mutual funds.
Value Hive with Calvin Froedge
This podcast is worth listening to for investors interested in Petrobras and other international stocks. They also talk about Ecopetrol, which is the next stock I will be writing about. They talk about political risk, valuations, and some company specifics that will help paint a complete picture on what is going on in South America. Calvin has some interesting takes on social media, but he is a knowledgeable resource on South America, its political situation, and all of the other things that could impact investments in the region.
The Business Brew with Meb Faber
This one was an interesting listen on ETFs, mutual funds, and the long-term performance and tax efficiency of both fund types. They discuss international versus domestic assets and many other topics that investors will find interesting. Meb Faber is the Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager at Cambria Investments, and readers can learn a lot from their discussion. It fits in with the international theme that I will be writing about for the next couple weeks, where the asset valuations are much cheaper than comparable US stocks.
Readers can learn a lot by listening to either podcast. If you are more interested in Petrobras, Ecopetrol, and South America, I would start with the Value Hive podcast. If you find the ETF vs. Mutual Fund topic more interesting, I would start with the Business Brew episode.
