Tucker Goes To Russia, A Look At The Big Picture & Story Time From Hollywood
Last week was interesting on a variety of fronts. We had a Tucker Carlson going to Russia to interview Vladimir Putin, Nvidia NVDA 0.00%↑, ARM Holdings ARM 0.00%↑, and the AI bubble continuing to inflate to name a couple things. I listened to a lot of good podcasts this week, but I wanted to include one focused on the macro big picture and one full of stories from Hollywood. It was a busy week, and I think it makes sense to start with Tucker Carlson’s Interview of Vladimir Putin.
Tucker Carlson’s Interview of Vladimir Putin
I watched the interview the day it came out, and it was interesting to say the least. Putin spent a lot of time talking about Russian and Eastern European history, but it’s something worth watching. The most important points I thought he made were his thoughts on Ukraine. He points out the coup in 2014 as the real start of what is happening today in Ukraine (which I tend to agree with), instead of the Western perception (or at least media perception) that Putin invaded in 2022 for no reason at all. The other main thing that is worth mentioning was Putin’s reaction to the idea that Russia is gearing up for an invasion of Europe.
Despite Western media’s push that Russia is chomping at the bit to invade the rest of Europe after Ukraine, Putin flat out denied that they are going to expand things outside of Ukraine. Granted, he wouldn’t say that was the plan if he was considering it, but it seems obvious to me that Russia has more to lose with the conflict in Ukraine expanding to other countries than they would gain. Others have spent more time breaking down the interview, but I just wanted to put it out there for readers to consider watching. It’s definitely a better use of a couple hours than watching Fox or CNN.

On The Tape w/ Luke Gromen
Luke Gromen is one of my favorite investors to listen to on his various podcast appearances. They talk about what he expects from the Federal Reserve and the Treasury over the next year or two, and Luke is expecting a bumpy ride for investors over the next couple years. They also discuss the outlook for stocks, bonds, and commodities, and the path that things could take for markets. It’s worth a watch for investors that want to take a look at the big picture for things in 2024.
Invest Like The Best w/ Michael Ovitz
This last podcast isn’t going to change anyone’s opinion on anything related to financial markets, but it was one of my favorite podcasts I listened to in the last week. Michael Ovitz told story after story on Hollywood, movies, advertising, and investing. They discuss his career, his thoughts on building a business and reputation, among other topics. If you are a movie buff, this podcast is the one for you.
