A Big Picture Video, A Podcast On The Financial System & A Juneteenth Honorable Mention
This week I have one YouTube video and one podcast for readers to check out. The YouTube video is a big picture look at fiscal and Federal Reserve policy, commodities, and markets. The podcast is a good listen for anyone interested in the financial system. It is more focused on Capital One COF 0.00%↑, but it is a good look at the financial system and what could be on the horizon for the banks.
This week will also include a little different spin with the honorable mention podcast, which has nothing to do finance or investing, but it is relevant to the crossroads we find ourselves at with the American culture. We just had the made up Juneteenth holiday and we are in the middle of Pride month (another made up celebration with nothing to celebrate). This one might not be for everyone, but it is definitely food for thought.
Wealthion with David Hay
This video bounces through a variety of topics, from the global economy, recessions, and energy. There are a lot of issues that could create turmoil in financial markets over the next couple years, and they discuss several in detail. They also talk a bit about AI (a sector that looks bubbly in my opinion), commercial real estate, and uranium, a sector that has started to run in recent weeks. If the big picture is your sweet spot, this video is for you.
Painful Reckoning Ahead Due To "Really Really Dumb" Monetary Policy | David Hay
Yet Another Value Podcast w/ Marc Rubinstein
This podcast has a focus on Capital One, but if you are interested in the financial sector, this podcast might be interesting. They talk about the plumbing of the financial sector, the rapid rise in interest rates, and some of the events surrounding the Silicon Valley Bank collapse. I don’t think most financials will make great investments over the next decade, but it makes sense for investors to be aware of what is going on in the sector due to the potential impact on other sectors.
Juneteenth Honorable Mention: The Pete Quinones Show
I’m writing this on Monday night (6/19). I avoid the mainstream news outlets like the plague, but it’s hard to miss the Pride month and Juneteenth circus if you spend any time on social media. This podcast talks about the unintended consequences of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the culture we have today. If you are more focused on finance and investments, then feel free to skip this one. However, if you happen to keep an eye on current events, culture, and politics, the Pete Quinones Show is one of my favorites on a variety of topics.
