Political Winds Of Change, What To Watch For As An Active Investor & A Look At Out Of Favor Opportunities And Commodities
It seems like markets are starting to try to figure out what happens in a Trump presidency as it seems more and more likely that he will be elected when November rolls around. It might change short term narratives, but I don’t think who ends up in the White House changes the long term fundamentals for most of the stuff I’m invested in. The circular firing squad is in full effect in the Democrat Party with some of the recent headlines about Biden coming out, but we should get more clarity on that in the next month with their Convention.
We had the Republican Convention this week (complete with an interesting cast of characters), but I think the Trump assassination attempt was a vibe shift for the political environment here in the US. We will see how it plays out, but we are definitely living in interesting times. I have spent more than my fair share of time looking into what happened last weekend in Pennsylvania, and I don’t think it’s just Secret Service incompetence. I’ll leave it at that and let readers decide for themselves, but I think the next couple months are going to be very interesting to watch for the political sphere here in the US.
Shifts Happen w/ Luke Gromen
This was the most thought provoking podcast I listened to over the last week. Luke Gromen walks through some of the different dynamics playing out today in financial markets, and how they will continue to play out moving forward. They talk about debt levels, interest rates, commodities, political unrest, and everything in between. If you’re looking for a one hour summary of things to watch for as an investor, this would be a great place to start.
Market Huddle w/ Chase Taylor
I enjoy watching the Market Huddle every week, and Chase Taylor is a great follow for investors. They do a run through a bunch of different assets and what he’s watching today. They talk briefly about Peabody Energy BTU 0.00%↑ and other commodities you might find interesting. He’s also bullish on platinum, palladium, and the PGM miners, which is probably my favorite risk/reward setup of any of the precious metals miners. It’s worth a watch for investors looking for out of favor opportunities.
Thought the 2nd one was very useful especially with the charts to complement the narrative.
